HILLS SHOWGROUND HISTORY

1886

First Castle Hill Show held at Rogans Hill, run by the Castle Hill and Hills District Agricultural Society

1924

The Show moves to its current site on Showground Road, Castle Hill → the official Hills Showground is established.

1940s

World War II interrupts some annual shows.

1980s–1990s

Grounds upgraded to host larger events such as circuses, concerts, expos, and community festivals.

2019

Hills Showground Metro Station opens, providing direct rail access to the showground.

2020s (present)

The Showground continues as home to the annual Castle Hill Show, markets, expos, sporting and cultural events, and is now a major Hills community hub.

Early 1900s

Show grows in popularity, featuring livestock, produce, horse events, wood chopping, and rural exhibitions.

1920s–1930s

Purpose-built pavilions, arenas, and exhibition spaces are developed to host agricultural and community events.

Planning begins for Sydney Metro Northwest, including a station at the Showground.
